Chelsea women thrash Manchester United 6-0 to win WSL title

Emma Hayes sent a fitting farewell to Chelsea by securing her seventh Women’s Super League (WSL) title.

The Blues needed to match or better Manchester City’s result against Aston Villa to claim the title, and they exceeded expectations with a resounding 6-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Despite City’s 2-1 win, Chelsea won the title on goal difference.

Chelsea’s record goalscorer, Fran Kirby, netted the sixth goal in her last appearance for the club.

United legend, Sir Alex Ferguson will be disappointed with the Red Devils, especially for the scoreline.

Hayes, who announced her departure in November, ends her 12-year tenure at Chelsea on a high note.

She will now take charge of the US Women’s National Team.

The title win marks Chelsea’s fifth consecutive league win under her leadership.

Throughout her illustrious career at Chelsea, Hayes has also won five Women’s FA Cups, two Women’s League Cups, and a Women’s Community Shield.
