Cole Palmer disagrees with Reece James who praised him as “one of the best” during Saturday’s post-match interview at City Ground.
After Chelsea’s dramatic win over Nottingham Forest, Reece James hailed Palmer, but the young midfielder had a humbler response.
James said, “Cole is one of the best in the world, I think personally.”
“You’ve seen what he can do when he gets his chance. At Man City he probably didn’t play as much as he wanted. He came here and took the opportunity with both hands.”
Meanwhile, Palmer was a little taken aback by those comments and replied: “I wouldn’t go that far, but obviously it’s nice to hear.
“I’m just trying to keep my feet on the ground, taking it as it comes. It’s all new to me you know, my first season properly playing in the league.
“But to come to Chelsea and come to a group of lads who have welcomed me like this, it’s been a pleasure,” he added.
Palmer has continued to shine in his debut season with the Blues, contributing another assist in the 3-2 win against Forest.
He now has 21 goals and ten assists in the Premier League this season.
He has been named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for April, with his goal against Everton also emerging as the best in the said month.
The youngster has also been announced as Chelsea’s Player of the Year, and Player’s Player of the Year.
