Boniface on target as Leverkusen clinch historic Bundesliga title in style

Bayer Leverkusen made history with a resounding 5-0 win over Werder Bremen, securing their first-ever Bundesliga title.

The emphatic win marked the end of Bayern Munich’s 11-year reign at the top.

The game started nervously for Leverkusen, but they quickly picked control, with Jonas Hofmann winning a penalty after a foul by Julian Malatini.

Victor Boniface, making his first start since January, confidently converted the spot-kick to give Leverkusen the lead.

Despite a few half-chances from Bremen, Leverkusen’s defence remained unshaken, with Amine Adli unlucky not to extend the lead as his effort struck the crossbar.

Granit Xhaka doubled the lead with a stunning long-range strike, before Wirtz stole the show with a sensational solo effort to make it 3-0.

Wirtz, 20, continued to dazzle, adding a fourth goal in the 83rd minute, nearly prompting a pitch invasion.

Wirtz then completed his hat-trick with the final kick of the game, capping off a memorable night for Leverkusen.

The victory is the icing on Leverkusen’s season-long dominance, bringing their first Bundesliga title in their 119-year history.
