“Sekibo, Secondus, Omehia expired politicians” — Wike tackles PDP leaders for supporting Fubara
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, has expressed his disappointment with certain leaders of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He criticized them for openly declaring their support for the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike made this statement during a chat with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.
Recall that last week, some notable PDP leaders in Rivers State, including Abiye Sekibo, Uche Secondus, Celestine Omehia, and Austin Opara, openly expressed their support for Fubara and urged the President to intervene and advise Wike.
However, reacting on Tuesday, Wike said Sekibo, Secondus, Omehia and Opara are all expired politicians who are not worthy to be called “elder statesmen”.
The FCT minister said they were all irrelevant, claiming that he kicked them out of the party.
Wike further made it clear that Secondus is no longer part of the PDP, as the court has upheld his suspension.
On Tuesday, while speaking with several TV channels, Wike revealed that his relationship with former Governor Peter Odili has deteriorated due to certain political differences.
He said, “As it is today, politically we don’t have a good relationship. We don’t work today. there are some political differences.”
Odili, a two-time Governor of Rivers State, handed over Rotimi Amaechi, Wike’s predecessor.
