Bundesliga: Bayer Leverkusen edge Freiburg 3-2 to maintain unbeaten run

Bayer Leverkusen secured a hard-fought 3-2 win against Freiburg to keep their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table intact.

Xabi Alonso’s men still maintain a 10-point gap over second-placed Bayern Munich.

Florian Wirtz set Leverkusen on the right track with an early goal in the 2nd minute, but Freiburg quickly responded through Ritsu Dōan to level the score.

Despite Freiburg’s pressure, Adam Hložek put Leverkusen back in front with a well-taken strike before halftime.

In the second half, Leverkusen extended their lead when Patrik Schick found the back of the net with a clinical finish off a Jeremie Frimpong assist.

Freiburg managed to pull another goal back through Yannick Keitel in the closing stages of the match, but it wasn’t enough to stop the outcome as Leverkusen held on for the win.
