Bundesliga: Harry Kane breaks 60-year record in Bayern Munich’s 5-2 win over Darmstadt

Harry Kane etched his name into Bundesliga history once again, breaking a 60-year-old record during Bayern Munich‘s 5-2 win over Darmstadt.

Kane’s prolific season continued as he netted his 31st goal in the German top-flight.

He has now surpassed the previous debut season record set by Hamburg legend Uwe Seeler in the 1963/64 campaign.

The former Tottenham forward nodded home Joshua Kimmich’s cross just before halftime, putting Bayern ahead for the first time in the game.

Tim Skarke had earlier opened scoring for the hosts Darmstadt, before Jamal Musiala leveled in the 36th minute.

Kane’s goal put Bayern ahead shortly before the first half whistle.

In the second half, Musiala completed a brace extended Bayern’s lead, while Serge Gnabry also found the back of the net minutes after.

Mathys Tels compounded Darmstadt’s woes with another goal in stoppage time, before a late consolation strike by Oscar Wilhelmsson brought the final score to 5-2.

Kane’s performance serves as a warning to Arsenal, who are set to face Bayern Munich in the upcoming Champions League quarter-finals.

The English captain returns to North London for the first time, since he joined Bayern.
