Incoming Man United Sporting Director Ashworth reportedly meets Graham Potter amidst Ten Hag’s woes

Manchester United’s incoming sporting director, Dan Ashworth, has reportedly held a clandestine meeting with Graham Potter.

Ashworth, who previously collaborated with Potter at Brighton, reportedly met with the English manager last weekend.

This development comes amidst growing speculation that Potter could replace Ten Hag at Old Trafford, particularly favoured by United’s new part-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Potter, who had a brief tenure at Chelsea before being sacked in April of last year, has declined several offers as he awaits the right managerial opportunity.

Ratcliffe, a known admirer of Potter, previously attempted to lure him to manage his French club, Nice.

Despite leading United to Carabao Cup victory and a third-place finish in the Premier League last season, Ten Hag is under pressure after a disappointing Champions League campaign.

United’s early exit from Europe and their current Premier League standing, eight points off the top four, have raised doubts about Ten Hag’s future.

Ratcliffe, who recently appointed Omar Berrada as CEO, is now focused on securing Ashworth’s appointment.

However, negotiations with Newcastle, Ashworth’s former club, have hit a roadblock as they demand double the initial £10 million compensation offered, reports UK Sun Sport.

On the other hand, Ten Hag is set to mark his 100th match in charge in the upcoming Manchester derby against City in Sunday.
