Corper mocked for passionate dance becomes Lagos State Youth Ambassador
The Lagos State government has appointed Osawere Austin Dayo, a corper who went viral for his dance, as a Youth Ambassador in the state.
Dayo, a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan (UI) made headlines some days ago with his passionate dance at King’s College in Lagos where he’s serving.
Corper Dayo captured public attention after a video surfaced on social media showing him engaging in a callisthenics training session with pupils from King’s College.
The Corps member’s enthusiastic performance drew praise from many, despite initial attempts by a Twitter user named Chioma to mock his efforts with a caption, “On top 33k?”
The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, took notice of the video and expressed eagerness to meet Dayo, impressed by his patriotic and energetic spirit.
In a post on his social media account dated Sunday, February 25, 2024, Ogunlende confirmed his meeting with the UI graduate and announced the state’s decision to appoint him as a Youth Ambassador.
“Captivated by @osapline the passionate corps member serving at Kings College, Lagos. I did not only find myself drawn by this online discourse but also with Mr. Governor. In light of this impact.
“I am honored to Welcome @osapline as the Latest Youth Ambassador of Lagos State,” his tweet read.
