Ondo PDP loses state chairman, Fatai Adams
The state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state, Fatai Adams is dead.
According to a statement by Ondo PDP, Adams died at a private hospital in Akure, the Ondo state capital, in the early hours of Wednesday.
In the statement, Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, Ondo PDP spokesperson, said the party condoled with the family of the deceased.
Peretei said the party has declared a three-day mourning period over the death of Adams.
“His transition at this trying time of the party is not only sad but traumatic,” the spokesperson said.
“The state working committee (SWC) of the party has declared a three-day mourning period. Party flags are to fly at half mast and all party secretariats shut for the period across the state.”
In January 2024, Adams was suspended by the party’s SWC over alleged anti-party activities.
He was a member of the Ondo state house of assembly between 2007 and 2011. He also served as the deputy state chairman of the PDP in Ondo.
In related news, elected Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu,died in German hospital where he was receiving treatment.
He died of leukaemia and prostate cancer, two ailments that had made him incapacitated for several months.
After a formal announcement of the governor’s death, the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was sworn in as substantive governor by the state’s Chief Judge.
Late Akeredolu is yet to be buried.
