Police arrests “ghost” who scams Adamawa residents
The Adamawa State Police have arrested a man identified as Malam Sabo, who allegedly poses as a ghost to scam residents in the community.
The Nigeria Police Force confirmed this in a statement posted on Tuesday night via its official Twitter (X) feed.
According to the statement, the 59-year-old suspect is a chronic 419 who defrauds residents by appearing as a ghost. Abubakar was detained on the 5th of February 2024.
He is reported to play the role and has mastered the art of voice distortion to sound like a woman or child, which he uses to communicate with unsuspecting victims.
Police claimed that Abubakar used the ingenious approach of pretending to be a ghost and defrauded one Abba Bale of the sum of N300,000.
The statement reads;
“Adamawa state Police Command on 5/2/2024 arrested a 59-year-old Man for frequently defrauding Members of the public.
The suspect, Muhammad Abubakar a.k.a Malam Sabo is said to be a habitual 419 who specializes in defrauding Members of the public in a disguised manner.
Mostly, the suspect hides his identity, pretending to be a Ghost, and talking to his Victims with different voices. The suspect, at times, changes his voice sound to that of a woman or a child to dupe his victims.
Recently he tricked and duped one Abba Bale of Demsawo of the sum of three Hundred thousand (N300,000.00)”.
