Kidnappers kill young man after delivering N3m ransom demanded to rescue his two abducted brothers in Nasarawa
A young man, identified as Abdullahi Ali Akwanga, met his untimely death on Tuesday night, January 30, 2024, after delivering a ransom to kidnappers who had abducted his two brothers in Nasarawa State.
The incident occurred along the Fadama-Ashiege road, where Abdullahi was reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen after successfully delivering the demanded N3 million ransom to secure the release of his abducted siblings.
The abductors had demanded the ransom for the safe return of the two brothers.
Details surrounding the incident remain scant at this time, but it is suspected that the kidnappers trailed Abdullahi and mercilessly killed him after collecting the ransom.
The motive behind the cold-blooded murder is yet to be confirmed.
Muhammad Ibrahim, a close friend of the deceased, confirmed the heartbreaking incident in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
According to Ibrahim, Abdullahi Ali Akwanga was a graduate of the College of Education, Akwanga, and was not a victim of kidnapping himself.
Instead, he fell victim to the brutality of the criminals when he courageously took on the responsibility of delivering the ransom to secure the freedom of his brothers.
“He was not kidnapped but he was killed by the abductors of his two brothers when he took the ransom to the kidnappers. After he had taken the ransom he was shot to death by yet-to-be-identified persons who claimed to be kidnappers. Until his death, he was a graduate of the College of Education Akwanga. We pray for the repose of his soul. Rest in peace until we path no more brother Abdul,” the post reads.
