Sheffield United, West Ham share points in 2-2 thriller
Sheffield United and West Ham played out a 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane, with both teams unable to secure a win.
Maxwel Cornet opened scoring for the visitors, capitalizing on a loose ball for his first Premier League start this season.
However, Ben Brereton Diaz equalized for the hosts just before half-time, seizing on a rebound to level the score.
In the second half, West Ham regained the lead with a penalty converted by James Ward-Prowse after Hamer fouled Danny Ings in the box.
The Hammers seemed set for victory, but Rhian Brewster’s late red card gave Sheffield United a numerical advantage.
VladimÃr Coufal’s subsequent dismissal leveled the playing field, and Oliver McBurnie secured a point for the Blades with a penalty following Alphonse Areola’s foul.
The draw keeps Sheffield United at the bottom of the table, seven points away from safety.
Meanwhile, West Ham missed a chance to close the gap on Tottenham to three points.
West Ham’s next Premier League fixture is against Bournemouth at home, while Sheffield United will face Brighton in the FA Cup fourth round.
