Barcelona confirm Marcos Alonso will undergo surgery for back problem

Barcelona have confirmed that their first team star Marcos Alonso will undergo surgery to treat lingering back problem.

The Spanish side continue to grapple with injury setbacks this season, with several key players currently sidelined.

While Gavi is ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, the club expects the return of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Pedri, and Inigo Martinez in the coming weeks.

Joining the list of absentees is Alonso, who is facing a similar back problem to Ter Stegen’s.

Barcelona on Sunday announced on X that Alonso will undergo surgery in the first week of 2024 to address problem in the lumbar region of his back.
