UCL: Osimhen seals Napoli’s last 16 spot in style
Napoli sealed their spot in Champions League last 16 with a 2-0 victory over Braga, courtesy of Victor Osimhen’s unorthodox finish.
Despite recent struggles under new coach Walter Mazzarri, Napoli showed their determination in the match, giving their best performance.
Osimhen who was on Monday honoured with the African Player of the Year Award, started the game.
Braga started off the party scoring an own goal with a dismal defensive error.
Napoli’s lead strengthened when Natan, a central defender playing at left-back in the game, initiated a cross, leading to Osimhen’s back-heel flick that ricocheted off his other foot into the net.
Meanwhile, it might as well not be a totally disappointing night for Braga, as Real Madrid rallied to a 3-2 victory over Union Berlin, to set them up for the Europa League play-offs.
