80-year-old man commits suicide in Lagos
An 80-year-old man, Isiaka Ayinde, a resident of Araromi Imota in Lagos State, reportedly took his own life on March 7.
The shocking discovery was made by the landlord’s children, who stumbled upon the old man’s lifeless body.
He was found dangling from a rope, which was tied to the burglary proof of a window in the kitchen.
The children promptly raised the alarm, alerting their father, Mustapha, who then reported the tragic incident to the police.
“He heard his children shouting that he should come and see Baba in the kitchen. When he ran into the kitchen, he saw the lifeless body of the tenant hanging on a rope that was tied to the burglary proof of one of the windows in the kitchen,” the police source said.
Upon receiving the distress call, police investigators swiftly arrived at the scene, documenting the area with photographs.
The authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the old man’s decision to take his own life.
The landlord, Mustapha, expressed deep shock and sorrow over the incident.
“The scene has been visited by the DCB personnel of the division, and photographs were taken.”
“The family of the deceased is not interested in depositing the body at the mortuary but rather prefer burying the corpse immediately as a result of the age and religious inclination of the deceased,” Police added.
