“5 lockups, 19 arrests” – Speed Darlington declares achievement
Controversial rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has disclosed that he has been arrested 19 times and detained on five occasions.
Speed Darlington’s history with law enforcement has been a recurring issue. He was arrested twice in October and November 2024, following his mockery of Burna Boy’s relationship with embattled American music executive Sean Combs, aka Diddy.
The ‘Bangdadadang’ crooner, in a recent Instagram post, bragged about his multiple arrests in a freestyle video weeks following his release.
“Five lockups, 19 arrests, I get game but I no dey hear. When you hear this one, na Kuje. If you mature, I move on, shame on you,” he rapped.
It is worth noting that he was detained at the Kuje Correctional Facility and remained there until his release on January 21, 2025, weeks after being granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Shortly after regaining his freedom, Speed Darlington alleged that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on his way from a club in Lagos. His claim stirred controversy, leading his lawyer, Stan Alieke, to announce that he and his law firm had severed ties with the rapper.
Reacting to his lawyer’s departure, Speed Darlington stated that Alieke was free to leave if he was tired of supporting him.
