2026 World Cup qualifier: In form Sadiq Umar makes it 22-man squad in Kigali

Valencia striker Sadiq Umar has arrived in Kigali, bringing the number of Super Eagles players in camp to 22 ahead of Friday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

The squad is now only awaiting Alhassan Ibrahim’s arrival to complete the roster.

Recall the Super Eagles camp opened on Sunday night with six players and technical staff present.

Since then, several key players have joined, with training intensifying in preparation for the crucial match.

Umar’s presence is a significant boost for head coach Eric Chelle.

The forward has rediscovered his form since joining Valencia on loan in January, scoring four goals in eight La Liga matches.

His resurgence has been crucial in Valencia’s battle against relegation.

Chelle will be counting on Umar and the rest of his attacking options to deliver a strong performance against Rwanda.

Nigeria, currently fifth in Group C, needs a victory at the Amahoro Stadium to revive their World Cup qualification hopes.
