10th Senate: Abass declared speaker of House of Representatives, Kalu deputy speaker

A fourth-term lawmaker representing the Zaria federal constituency of Kaduna State, Hon. Tajudeen Abass, has been declared winner of the speakership race of the House of Representatives while Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the immediate past Spokesman of the 9th House of Representatives has also been elected unopposed for the office of the deputy speaker of the 10th national assembly.

Abass polled a total number of 353 votes, trouncing his rivals, Hon. Idris Wase and Aminu Jaji who polled 3 votes each.

Abass after being declared winner is sworn in by Clerk to the National Assembly, Magaji Tambuwal.

Kalu who represents the Bende federal constituency of Abia State is currently taking his oath of office.
