100-level OAU student killed for money ritual in Ogun; hand and wrists sold for N100,000
The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a horrifying crime involving the ritual killing of 18-year-old boy, Quadri Salami, a 100-level student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State.
The young man’s remains were discovered buried in a shallow grave at Mile 6 Ajebo area of Abeokuta, the state capital.
The disturbing incident came to light after the father of the deceased reported his son missing at the Kemta Police Station on November 8.
Despite relentless efforts to locate Quadri, all attempts proved futile. The investigation took a dark turn when a tracking clue led the police to one of the suspects, Akeem Usman, who was arrested in possession of the victim’s phone.
According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, the suspect, Akeem Usman, implicated another individual named Ifadowo Niyi.
Both suspects reportedly confessed to the heinous crime, revealing that they slaughtered Quadri and dismembered his body for ritual purposes.
Ifadowo Niyi allegedly took away the victim’s head and two wrists, paying a sum of one hundred thousand Naira into Akeem Usman’s account as proceeds from the sale of the human body parts.
“The suspects thereafter continued to sell the victim’s other body parts on demand to Internet fraudsters and buried the heart, two legs, and flesh inside a plastic rubber for rituals and used the remaining parts for ‘Awure'(luck charm) a crime against humanity. Among their confessional statement, the duo admitted that they have used four other human heads for money rituals known as “Osole” the statement read.
The police have the suspects, Akeem Usman and Ifadowo Niyi, in custody at Eleweran, SCID, where discreet investigations are ongoing.
Following the completion of investigations, the suspects will be arraigned in court to face the consequences of their horrifying actions.
