Udinese fan faces criminal proceedings for racial abuse of Milan goalkeeper

Following the racial chants by some Udinese supporters against Milan’s goalie Mike Maignan, a fan has been fished out to face the law.

The public prosecutor’s office in Udine has reportedly initiated criminal proceedings against the Udinese supporter who was involved in racially abusing Maignan during their recent match at the Stadio Friuli.

The incident occurred during Milan’s 3-2 away victory over Udinese on Saturday.

Football Italia stated that the investigation is ongoing to identify all responsible individuals and to gather specific details about the racist incident.

Meanwhile, in response to the racist chants during the match, Maignan walked off the pitch, leading to a five minutes hold of the game.

The Udinese supporter, a 46-year-old from Udine, is said to have received an order, barring him from entering stadiums for up to five years, while Udinese have taken additional action by banning the individual for life.

As a consequence of the incident, Udinese has been ordered to play their next Serie A home match against Monza on February 3rd behind closed doors.
