Serie A: Inter stage comeback to end De Rossi’s unbeaten record at Roma

Inter staged a remarkable comeback from 2-1 down to defeat Roma 4-2, ending Daniele De Rossi’s perfect record as Roma’s interim manager.

The match featured six goals, with Marcus Thuram scoring one and forcing an own goal from Angeliño.

Roma, under De Rossi, following Jose Mourinho’s departure, had won all three games prior to this match.

They were boosted by the return of Chris Smalling and Sardar Azmoun to the bench, but were without Evan Ndicka due to AFCON commitments.

Inter, on the other hand, faced the absence of Simone Inzaghi due to a touchline ban, along with injuries to Davide Frattesi, Stefano Sensi, and Juan Cuadrado.

The game began with Stephan El Shaarawy forcing an early save from Inter’s Yann Sommer, but it was Inter who took the lead controversially.

A Federico Dimarco corner, flicked on by Romelu Lukaku, was headed into the net by Francesco Acerbi, with VAR ruling Marcus Thuram’s offside position as not interfering with play.

Roma equalized through Gianluca Mancini’s header from a Lorenzo Pellegrini free kick, but Inter regained the lead with a goal from Thuram after the break.

Matteo Darmian’s assist led to an own goal by Angeliño, sealing Inter’s victory.

Despite late attempts from Roma, including a missed opportunity by Lukaku and a late counter-attack goal by Alessandro Bastoni, Inter emerged victorious, ending De Rossi’s winning streak with a memorable comeback.
