Manchester United reportedly in talks with Barcelona over €50m Greenwood transfer

Manchester United are reportedly exploring options of selling Mason Greenwood, with the player attracting interest from clubs including Barcelona.

United are said to be seeking a fee of €50million (£43m) for the 22-year-old forward, who is currently on loan at Getafe and under contract with United until 2025.

According to reports from Spanish outlet Marca, United representatives have already held discussions with Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, regarding a potential transfer for Greenwood.

Atletico Madrid are also rumoured to be in contention for Greenwood’s signature, while a permanent move to Getafe remains a possibility.

Additionally, an unnamed Saudi club is reportedly interested in acquiring the outcast from United.

Despite the reported interest from various clubs, Greenwood is said to prefer a move to a team competing in the Champions League.

Greenwood has not featured for Manchester United since being suspended by the club in January 2022, following allegations of rape and sexual assault.

However, all charges against him were dropped last year, allowing him to resume his football career.

He was subsequently loaned out to Spanish La Liga side Getafe, until the end of the current campaign.
