“I Hope He’ll Get Married” – Usain Bolt’s Mum wants him to focus on finding a wife after the olympics

Top performing sprinter Usain Bolt from Jamaica may be currently focused on replicating his previous show of might in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, but his mother has something else in mind.

Jennifer Bolt, who supports his 29-year-old son to bag as much gold as he did in the last two Olympics if not more, thinks that after the 2016 Rio Olympics, he should focus on settling down.

“I would hope he’ll settle down, get married and start his family. I know he’ll settle down because he has said it. He told me many times that he’s going to start his family,” she said on Saturday August 13 during a CNN interview as quoted by the Washington Post.

But according to a July 2016 Telegraph interview, Bolt’s mum may have to wait a little longer.

The star athlete who won gold on Sunday August 14 in the 100m sprint said he will marry after age 35, and implied that it’s hard for him to stay with one woman as girls keep throwing themselves at him.

“I’ve thought about it, but I know I’m not going to get married before 35, for sure,” said Bolt, who turns 30 on August 21.

To him, getting married as young as he is may be tricky, and he went on to give an example of Manchester United star Wayne Rooney who got married aged 21, and whose marriage to Coleen Rooney, the mother of his three children, has had its fair share of issues.

“Like, Rooney got married so young — all the footballers that are English, as soon as they get really famous they have to get married. And I think it’s unfair to them. You get famous, there’s so much pressure of girls wanting you. And for you to get married at 21, you have not lived one bit. It’s hard for you to stay with one woman because girls are literally just throwing themselves at you,” added Bolt.

This is the final Olympics for the Jamaican who on Sunday won gold for a third consecutive 100m men’s Olympic race, after running 9.81 seconds.

He is keen to win two other races in which he bagged gold at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics- the 200-meter sprint and the 4×100-meter relay.

“Somebody said I can become immortal. Two more medals to go and I can sign off. Immortal,” he commented.
