Ex Ajax star Quincy Promes sentenced to six years in prison for cocaine importation

Former Ajax star Quincy Promes has been sentenced to six years in prison for his involvement in importing 1,370kg of cocaine.

The court found that Promes played a part in the illegal deal, which saw the drugs intercepted after being imported into Antwerp and disguised in a sea salt shipment from Brazil.

Despite being a one-time target for Arsenal, the Holland player currently plays for Spartak Moscow.

According to reports, Prosecutors noted that he refused to return to Holland for the trial, believing he was “untouchable” in Russia.
