Cole Palmer named Premier League Young Player of the Season

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has been named Premier League’s Hublot Young Player of the Season following an impressive debut at Stamford Bridge.

After transferring from Manchester City on deadline day last summer, Palmer quickly established himself as a key player for Chelsea.

The 22-year-old midfielder has scored 22 goals and provided 10 assists, contributing to a total of 32 goals in 33 league appearances.

Palmer’s impressive performance places him second in the Premier League for combined goals and assists this season.

His remarkable form has made him the first Chelsea player to win this award since its inception in the 2019/20 season, when Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold claimed the honour.

Meanwhile, before turning recently 22, Palmer joined an elite group of Premier League players, becoming only the third to achieve over 30 goal involvements in a single season while aged 21 or younger.

He also matched the Chelsea record of 16 home league goals in a season, set by club legends Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.

Palmer’s best performances of the season include scoring four goals against Everton and a hat-trick against Manchester United.

The England ace beat strong competition for the award, including Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Erling Haaland.

Others are Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, and Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie.
