Few hours after a female National Youth Service Corps Member passed away in Kano before the end of the 3 weeks orientation programme, another female corps member has died at the Bayelsa Camp.
Reports gathered that the 27-year-old corper identified as Elechi Chiyerom was confirmed dead on Tuesday after bleeding and vomiting on arrival at the camp at Kaiama, Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of the state.
Chiyerom who died in a mysterious circumstance was said to be a graduate of the Ignatius Azuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Few of the corps members who spoke with newsmen claimed the deceased on arrival at the camp last Thursday looked “terribly sick” and could not participate in some opening sessions at the camp while some officials of NYSC claimed that the development was a case of “non-disclosure” of the state of health by the corps member.
It was also learnt that a search on her hostel section showed signs of excessive bleeding with her clothing and sanitary pads soaked in blood.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity with Punch said, “The doctor at the NYSC camp’s clinic immediately referred her to the state-owned Diette-Koki Memorial Hospital in the Opolo area of Yenagoa, the state capital, where she was confirmed dead.”
