Bobbi Kristina Brown’s cause of death was revealed on Friday more than seven months after her death on July 26 on what would have been her 23rd birthday.
The daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown died from drowning and “mixed drug intoxication,” the Fulton County Medical Examiner in Atlanta revealed.
A toxicology report found marijuana, alcohol, a cocaine-related substance, morphine and medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety in her system. The water immersion combined with the drug consumption caused the Lobar pneumonia that led to her death, according to the medical examiner’s office said.
“The underlying cause of death is the condition which starts the downhill course of events leading to death and in this case is the immersion associated with drug intoxication,” the medical examiner’s office said in the statement.
However, the medical examiner was unable to to determine whether her death was accidental or intentional.
“Death was clearly not due to natural causes, but the medical examiner has not been able to determine whether death was due to intentional or accidental causes, and has therefore classified the manner of death as Undetermined.”
On Thursday, an Atlanta judge ordered the autopsy results, which had previously been sealed, to be releasaed following requests by the media
Brown was found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her home in Roswell, Ga., on Jan. 31, 2015. She died six months later.
