The students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), yesterday, held a protest over the death of a 300 level student of the department of Accounting, Oluchi Anekwe who was electrocuted after she stepped on an improperly concealed wire on her way to her hall on campus.

Since the incident happened, there has been no formal statement from both the state and federal governments.

Omotola Jolade as an activist, called out the president to her twitter page. “A Nigerian student is electrocuted and no statement from both state and federal government? Do #Nigerianlives matter?” Omotola tweeted.

  1. But how does this affect government? I feel the school authorities and the students in the particular hall/hostels are just ignorant and careless. A wire fell from the pole and the students didn’t take it upon themselves to report to the authorities. The cleaners/sanitation workers in the school too didn’t notice it. Or May be the wire fell few minutes before the student stepped on it. Until investigation is carried out, we cannot jump into conclusion. Nevertheless, the devil will always use something to perpetrate his evil deeds.

  2. What has a single death of a student got to do with govt policy of change? The is borne out of the dislike for the president n APC.Am sure she has better things to do than this misplaced utterance.

  3. I think she is not acting badly, the school is a federal one so if she asking the federal govt to look into it that’s not a bad one after all we are all citizens of the country and the govt should care for us
