Government Bans Street Hawking, Begging in Kaduna

Following the bomb blast that occurred today, July 7, 2015, in the Zaria area of the state, the state government has announced a ban on street begging and hawking in a bid to beef security in the state.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s media aide, Samuel Aruwan released a statement, it reads: “All beggars and hawkers are to stay off the streets until further notice. Any beggar or hawker found on the streets will be arrested until these measures are relaxed,”

The government also urged residents of the state to report all suspicious persons and movements to the relevant security agencies.
