The Lagos State Government released a report showing about 55% of commercial drivers in Lagos are positive for hard drugs they were tested for.
According to reports, 801 commercial drivers were screened via urine samples, about 442 (50%) of the total number showed they had hard drugs in their body system.
Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris confirmed this to our reporter at a ministerial news briefing in Alausa, Ikeja; the briefing detailing the events of his last year in office.
The ministry is trying to ensure the safety of commercial drivers in Lagos state.
Late last year, the ministry carried out tests for hypertension and diabetes, amongst others; as well as sampling drivers breathe for alcohol intake.
