Michael Igbinedion Asked to Pay N3m Fine for Stealing N25bn or Go To Jail

Former Edo state governor, Lucky Igbinedion younger brother, Michael Igbinedion was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment for charges bothering on money laundering yesterday, April 30, 2015.

Michael and a former aide to Lucky, Mr Patrick Eboigbodin were dragged before a Federal High Court in Benin City on an 81 count charge on Money laundering said to be carried out while Lucky Igbinedion was still governor of the state.

Justice A.M Liman sentenced Michael Igbinedion to 6 years imprisonment with an option of fine of N1million for each of the three counts 79, 80 and 81, for which he was convicted. Mr Eboigbodin was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment without an option of fine.

The accused used four companies, Gava Corporation Limited, Romrig Nigeria Limited, PML Securities Company Limited and PML Nigeria Limited to launder money.

Dis is rubbish…y did dey sentence d oda man to jail without an option nd michael igbinedion to 6 years with an option to pay 3m it doesn’t make sense he stole 25bn oh bcos he is d brother of d former edo state governor…it is dat money dat will kill him nd his family member….nigeria will never grow
