Napoli eye Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta as Victor Osimhen replacement

Napoli are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta as Victor Osimhen replacement.

Mateta, 26, is enjoying his best form since joining Crystal Palace from Mainz in 2021, scoring 13 goals in the Premier League this season.

According to L’Équipe, Mateta has attracted interest from several clubs, with Napoli showing the most concrete interest.

Meanwhile, the French forward is set to meet with Crystal Palace’s management at the end of the season to discuss his future.

When asked about his future plans, Mateta remained tight-lipped saying, “We will see (smiles).”

Napoli, who are gearing up for the likely departure of Osimhen, view Mateta as a strong candidate to fill the gap.

Osimhen, who has played an incredible role for Napoli, is expected to leave at the end of the season, with a move to the Premier League appearing more probable than a return to Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain.
